Welcome to Doctor Paws, Inc.!We are a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization recognized by the Internal Revenue Service, based in Farmington Hills, Michigan. Our mission is to provide a network of handler/dog teams and facilities in which these teams can perform volunteer animal assisted therapy activities. Membership in Doctor Paws, Inc is open to any handler/dog team that supports our mission and that of Therapy Dogs, Inc. (TDInc) Click here to download and print membership, and testing forms.. IMPORTANT: MEMBERSHIP FORMS SIGNED BY YOUR VET AND PROOF OF CURRENT RABIES VACCINATION AND NEGATIVE FECAL WITHIN ONE YEAR ARE REQUIRED ON THE FIRST VISIT. There is no perfect breed or mix. We are looking for dogs that are:
Three separate, one hour visits are observed by a Tester/Observer within a six month period. When all phases of testing are complete, qualified handler/dog teams are given completed paperwork to mail in to TDInc. Only after receiving the proper credentials can members then contact a facility to set up a visitation schedule that works for them. If you do not already have a facility in mind, click on the locations tab for a listing of facilities that are currently being visited by members of Doctor Paws. Please note that each facility may have its own volunteer guidelines that must be adhered to. Doctor Paws Inc is run entirely by volunteers and does not charge any fee whatsoever. Our financial support has come from generous donations from private individuals. To help defray costs we do encourage the purchase of a Doctor Paws T-shirt and a bandana for your dog. The cost is $30 for both. The Doctor Paws logo is recognized by facilities that you visit and helps with security. You can go to accessories .
